This week I had the interesting task of editing a short movie to make it into our own style and format making the short movie into our own. The short movie that was given to us was more mysterious short movie. My aim was to try and give the short movie a more of a thriller/horror feel. This was done so that I can gain more experience in how to edit and put the right type of sound into the movie so that I am more knowledgeable for it comes to making my own trailer.
I then trimmed the clip to the exact moments that I wanted to be featured in my trailer. I changed completely the tone of my version. As I trimmed the clip so the ending was at the start. I changed the gun shot moment at the very end to the very start. This gave the trailer a more impactful and intense start that would immediately draw the audience into what is going on, on screen.
Then my next idea in the editing task was to add sound to the trailer to add more umpth to it and make it sound a bit more better. I wanted the music to be creepy but also make an impact. So I went with a music called "deep terror" at the start just to add to the creepy tone. I then also added a "sting" at the very end to make the climatic moments even more climatic and impactful. I also added another sound type called "war drum" this added to the impact and scene where the elevator goes down.
Overall this task was extremely helpful and useful to me. Because of this task i got a more advanced and clearer understanding into a programme that could be used for the making of my trailer. I managed to gain an understanding into various aspects like editing techniques and adding sound and text into the trailer, now i would be able to have some knowledge of what I'm doing when if i use this software for my own trailer instead of just going straight onto the software with no understanding so this task has also saved me time as well as giving me a better understanding of the software but also given me an insight into how trailers can be instructed.
