For my trailer I want to take full use of the opportunity to include a song. This is down to the thought that with the song I can make my trailer more effective and simply put I can hopefully make it better.
One thing that pulled towards this song is that the song is incredibly slow but still so effective and the message it carries along to the viewer is effective and clear. Its tone and its beats create a mysterious feel around the song but a feel that keeps you engaged, this is the type of notion i want to happen within my trailer, making tone mysterious but keeps them wanting to watch, this is something i believe the song pulls of perfectly. The eeriness and creepy tone of the artists voice only adds to song and its story.
As i have only 12 seconds of the song to use within my trailer i'll have to make sure that the part that i do use is extremely effective and works well within my trailer to add to it and make it better and add to the overall essence of the trailer. Because of this if i do choose to use this particular song than the part i will use will be:
"Magnified, sanctified, be thy holy name
Vilified, crucified, in the human frame
A million candles burning for the love that never came
You want it darker
We kill the flame"
These are the lyrics that id chose to include within my trailer, i picked this part in the song as its when the song is reaching its ultimate climax so the strong beat within the song is picking up which would match with the trailer as the closing minute or so is when things start to pick up. But secondly the lyrics that i chose out are for me extremely effective. As my trailer is either going to take the genre of a thriller or a horror i felt that not only the beat and the feel of the song went well these particular lyrics did so too. They carry a mysterious and yet creepy vibe to them. They lyrics talk about religious iconography such 'sanctified, holy and crucified' gives the audience an uneasy feeling and perhaps can even make them feel uncomfortable. The lyrics also mention two things that the audience may find scary such as the darkness and love that never comes. Such lyrics can play on the audiences emotions.
If i were to pick this song to be included i think one positive of using it is use if lyrics and beat that convey the mysterious and creepy tone that the carries on throughout the entirety of the song. However there as some negatives to using this song is that perhaps it isn't fast enough and can come across as quite boring and so maybe the song doesn't have that definitive impact that a song used in a trailer would commonly need.
